I wonder if it’s possible to have randomized sub-cycle interval variation so as to “spread out the spectrum” of the PWM signal while preserving the same resulting integrated brightness over the observable timescale.

Basically like how Apple laptop fans work, but for temporal modulation of signal instead of spatial modulation of fan blade gaps.
