I think there would be a good chance of getting caught if you did that. The police would be involved at this point and would definitely consider that as something to investigate before concluding the case.
It's all about knowing the limits.. most theft like this isn't really reported / investigated by the police. Companies lose money in stupid scams and thefts all the time, it's usually just written off. $25M would obviously be investigated but $25k?
